Some Ingredients That May Be Used for Shine
Mash
Many different types of grains can be used to make a moonshine mash. The most common grain used is cracked corn because of availability and cost-effectiveness. You can mix and match many types of grains to create unique flavors.
Fruit
Seasonal fruit is excellent for a variety of flavors either via in the mash or after the moonshine is fermented. When distilling fresh fruit in the mash, very little flavor will be carried over to the final product.
Aging Moonshine
Aging moonshine can be done in usually white oak whiskey barrels or with wood chips.
Yeast
Some type of yeast is a must for making and fermenting moonshine unless using grains with natural enzymes like malted barley.
